  1. Working radius Each crane sweeps its own circle. Where two circles overlap, the cranes share airspace.
  2. Overlap zone The controller tracks both jibs. As they close it slows the slew, then stops it before they can meet.
  3. Prohibited zone Fence off what can’t be moved — a neighbour, a road, a rail line — and the crane simply cannot pass over it.

The diagram is live. Two cranes share this site; the hatched overlap is the overlap zone. The moment both jibs are inside it, the controller cuts the slew — the readout flips to slew stop — and holds until the airspace clears. That, at real scale and in real time, is what ASCOREL does on your site.

It works the other way too: draw a prohibited zone over the neighbouring building, the rail line or the school next door, and the crane simply cannot pass over it.

What does anti-collision actually stop?

Cranes on one site are set at different heights so their jibs sweep past each other. What can still meet is the lower crane's jib and the taller crane's hoist rope and load. The system tracks both machines, slows the slew as they close, and cuts it before they can touch.

Does it stop dead, or is there a warning first?

There is a warning first. As a crane approaches an interfering crane or a prohibited area the system slows the movement — yellow light, intermittent buzzer, a blinking arrow on the display. If it keeps closing, the movement is cut: yellow and red lights, continuous buzzer, and the arrow crossed out. The jib, counter-jib or hook is stopped at least 2 m from the obstacle.

What is zoning?

Zoning fences off airspace the hook may not enter — a neighbour's building, a road, a rail line, an overhead power line. The areas are programmed in when the system is calibrated, and they can have a height limit as well as a footprint, which is how overhead lines are usually handled.

How many cranes can work on one system?

Up to sixteen on one secure radio network. It meets EN 17076, EN 14439 and EN 13849 PL-c, and it takes wind into account.

Does the operator have to do anything each day?

On a crane without redundant sensors, yes — a consistency check at each shift change and at least once a day. The operator puts the hook on a reference point set during calibration and presses a tick; if every reading is within 50 cm it passes. It takes a minute, and the system will ask for one if 24 hours go by without it.

Do we have to buy it, or can we rent?

Either. Buy it for the fleet, or rent it for the job. We are the sole Canadian distributor, so it is supported here rather than shipped back to France.
